Su Wenkui is the most renowned cultural worker in Tamsui. Since 1990, he has founded the “Huli Cultural and Historical Studio” in Tamsui, planning local education and training numerous Tamsui guides. Since 1990, he has organized several commemorations of the “Battle of Tamsui during the Sino-French War,” and since 1992, he has been committed to making “Dr. George Leslie Mackay in Tamsui” a cultural highlight of Tamsui. Through serendipity, he returned to Tamkang High School as the curator of the school history museum, compiling “A History of Tamkang High School” to promote school history and Tamsui history education, initiating educational innovations in high schools across Taiwan, and promoting the legacy of Mackay. In addition, he has assisted government agencies tirelessly, serving as a cultural and historical consultant for Tamsui Town Hall, consultant for Tamsui Historic Sites Museum in Taipei County, and advisor for the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Historical Architecture Review Committee of the New Taipei City Government, among others.

With over thirty years of dedicated work in Tamsui, he has become a pivotal figure in fostering the flourishing development of local culture in present-day Tamsui. Despite his significant influence on the local cultural scene, even at the age of 73, he continues to teach at Tamkang High School with undiminished passion, endearing himself to both teachers and students alike, who affectionately refer to him as “Daddy Su.” As former students, we aim to research and introduce this legendary figure of Tamsui’s folklore through a website presentation.
